Returns Policy

At The Tailors Lounge, we want you to feel confident in your purchase.
This Returns Policy explains when you may be eligible for a return, exchange, store credit, refund or other remedy for products purchased through our online store.
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any rights you may have under the Australian Consumer Law.
Change of mind
We do not offer refunds for change of mind.
However, we may offer an exchange or store credit for eligible items returned within 14 days of delivery, provided that:
- the item is unworn, unused and unwashed;
- the item is in original condition;
- all original tags are attached;
- the item is returned with original packaging where reasonably possible; and
- proof of purchase is provided.
Change-of-mind exchanges or store credits are not available for:
- sale items;
- gift cards;
- personalised or custom items;
- special-order items; or
- items not returned in original condition.
Unless required by law, original shipping costs are not refundable for change-of-mind returns, and return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer.
Faulty, damaged or incorrect items
If your item is:
- faulty;
- damaged;
- significantly different from its description; or
- not of acceptable quality,
please contact us as soon as possible at michael@thetailorslounge.com.au with:
- your order number;
- a description of the issue; and
- clear photos, where possible.
If a product does not meet the consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund depending on the nature of the issue.
Where the problem is major, you may be entitled to choose a refund or replacement. Where the problem is minor, we may choose to repair, replace or refund the item as permitted by law.
We may ask you to return the item so it can be assessed before a remedy is provided.
When we may not accept a return
We may decline a return, exchange, store credit or refund request where:
- you were made aware of the fault or defect before purchase;
- the issue was caused by misuse, improper care, abnormal use, alteration or accidental damage; or
- the item does not otherwise qualify for a remedy under Australian Consumer Law or under this policy.
Return process
To request a return, please email michael@thetailorslounge.com.au with your order number and details of the issue.
If your return is approved, we will provide instructions for sending the item back to us.
Where an item is confirmed to be faulty or otherwise eligible for a remedy under Australian Consumer Law, we will let you know whether the outcome will be a repair, replacement, refund or other appropriate remedy.
If a return is approved for a faulty item, we may cover reasonable return shipping costs.
Shipping
We currently ship within Australia only.
Orders are generally dispatched within 48 hours, although dispatch times may vary during busy periods, promotions, public holidays or where stock availability causes delay.
We use Australia Post for shipping. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on the order and delivery location.
Tracking details will be sent to the email address and/or mobile number provided at checkout.
Delivery timeframes are estimates only. Once an order has been dispatched, delays caused by Australia Post or other events outside our control may occur.
Refund timing
If a refund is approved, we will aim to process it within 2 business days after the returned item has been received and assessed.
Refunds will usually be returned to the original payment method.
If an exchange is approved, we will aim to dispatch the replacement item within 5 to 7 business days after the returned item has been received and assessed, subject to stock availability.
If store credit is approved, it will be issued once the returned item has been received and assessed.
